Barle Dulverton November 2009
On Sunday 29 November seven members of SVCC lead by Dave and Paul
travelled to Dulverton, originally to paddle down to Dulverton from
Tarr Steps.
Unfortunately the Barle was running in full flood with serious
risk of tree hazards further upstream so the decision was taken to
run the section from Marsh Bridge down to the confluence with the
Exe, and beyond to Exebridge.
The steps weir was running in full flood and was a definite
portage, although Jeff and Dave spotted a potential route, but
thought better of it.
The river was travelling at great rate and many of the paddlers
took at least one swim, with Geoff winning the booby prize with a
record of 4 swims for this section of the river.
As usual thanks to Dave, Dave 2 and Paul for their rescue
skills, which they had many opportunities to test.
