Wye Llangurig to Rhayader 30 December 2010

On a mild Thursday morning, seven members of SVCC met in the Strand Cafe at Rhayader prior to paddling the stretch of the Upper Wye from Llangurig down to the Rugby Club get out below Town Falls in Rhayader.

Participants

We were lucky to be accompanied by aspirant Level 5 coach Paul Smith of Rock and Water Adventures and his wife Becca, former member of the team GB Canoe Polo squad.

Getting on the water shortly before midday, we proceeded on down through various grade 2 and 3 sections of river, past the Marteg confluence, eventually reaching Rhayader at around 3pm, without anyone starting a swim score.

At Town Falls most initially ran via the fish steps river left, however under the guidance of Paul we all head one or more goes at running Town Falls.

After much fun on the falls we headed to the take out 200m below, and a return for a well deserved bun and coffee at the Strand once more.

Congratulations to everyone for a swim free run
