Symonds Yat February 2010 Club Coaching Session
On 21st February, seven club members attended a coaching session
for intermediate paddlers provided by Paul Smith
of Rock and Water Adventures at Symonds Yat on the
River Wye.
The rapids at Symonds Yat were just a notch below washed out and
hence eddy lines were quite fierce with a fast flowing central
chute with a fair wave.
The purpose of the coaching was to improve forward paddling
skills, and hence to use body and boat control in combination with
forward paddling to improve breaking in and breaking out
technique.
This was a tremendously valuable session and all attendees
learnt a lot from it.
Unusually Geoff lead the swim score with a superb 6 swims,
closely followed by Hedley with 4. Jeff and Dave followed up with 1
each. Finally Jon, DaveP and Will recorded no swims -
congratulations.
Finally a big thanks to Paul Smith
for organising!
